The new Star Wars plastic model kits for gluing and painting now offer model fans aged 10 and up even more crafting fun.

Darth Vader used this prototype, the basis for the terrifyingly effective TIE Interceptor, in the Battle of Yavin. Unlike all other TIE fighters, this prototype has a deflector shield generator and a simple hyperdrive. Vader's TIE Advanced is armed with heavy dual blaster cannons, but has no life support systems. The TIE Advanced features a dural steel alloy hull, an extended aft deck, and unique solar panel wings. The TIE Advanced quickly became one of Darth Vader's favorite ships. Like all TIE ships, the prototype's propulsion system consists of twin ion engines. Its solar ionization reactor is considered much more powerful than those of standard TIE fighters. The TIE Advanced has proven itself in combat, as it can survive many direct hits. The pilots' chances of survival have also been greatly improved by the installation of a hyperdrive system, which allows the ship to escape hopeless battles. This TIE fighter is used by both Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, and the Star Wars spaceship is available here as a detailed model.
