

The Soviet Yak-7B fighter is an improved version of the Yak-7. During the modernization, it received a boosted M-105PF engine with a capacity of 1,180 hp and later (since the spring of 1943) a lowered fairing and a teardrop-shaped canopy with an improved rear view. Synchronized ShKAS rifle-caliber machine guns were replaced with large-caliber 12.7 mm UBS machine guns. The Yak-7 fighter was put into production at twoĀ factories Novosibirsk No. 153 (built from August 1942 to December 1943)Ā and Tushino No. 82 (built from May 1942 to July 1944). Aircraft of this type became one of the main fighters in the Red Army Air Force and foughtĀ on all fronts until the end of the war.
