The M134 Minigun is an American 7.62mm machine gun from the Cold War and modern times. The weight of the empty weapon is 19 kilograms, with a length of 80.2 cm and a barrel length of 55.9 centimeters. The maximum range of the shot is 1,200 meters, and the muzzle velocity is approx. 850 m / s.

The first prototypes of the M134 were created in the early 1960s, and the weapon entered production in 1962. However, one of the most important impulses to increase the production of the M134 Minigun was the Vietnam War in 1964 / 1965-1975. In its course, it became obvious that the American armed forces needed a new machine gun with the highest possible rate of fire, which was intended primarily to provide direct fire support from the air. The M134 Minigun, built in the Gatling system, with a theoretical rate of fire significantly exceeding 2,000 rds / min, was perfect for this role! This weapon was mounted on board the AH-1 Cobra and OH-6 Cayuse helicopters, but also on AC-47 Spooky and AC-119 planes. The weapon turned out to be highly successful and in various variants it remains in service to this day, it is also used by many foreign users, such as Brazil, Chile and Canada.
