- About the Mirage F.1 aircraft:
The Dassault Mirage F1 is a French fighter and attack aircraft designed and produced by Dassault Aviation. It was developed as a successor to the Mirage III family. Work on the Mirage F1 began in the 1960s, and the aircraft entered service with the French Air Force in 1974. Initially, it served as the main interceptor fighter, and later transitioned to reconnaissance tasks.
The Mirage F1 was powered by a single SNECMA Atar 9K-50 turbojet engine, which provided a thrust of about 69 kN. The aircraft was armed with a variety of French and American weaponry, making it a versatile fighter. The Mirage F1 was exported to about a dozen countries and participated in many armed conflicts, such as the war in Afghanistan, the Gulf War, and the military intervention in Libya in 2011.
Versions of Mirage F.1 CT and CR:
Mirage F1CT: This is the attack version of the Mirage F1C-200, developed to replace older Mirage IIIE and Mirage 5 models. The F1CT modernization program included upgrades to the avionics to the F1CR standard, including the Cyrano IVM-R radar with additional air-to-ground modes, a navigation and attack system, and a laser rangefinder. The aircraft gained the capability to carry a variety of air-to-ground weapons, such as missiles, cluster bombs, and laser-guided bombs.
Mirage F1CR: This is the reconnaissance version developed with the needs of the French Air Force in mind. The Mirage F1CR was equipped with various reconnaissance devices, both internal and external, such as the SAT SCM2400 Super Cyclope infrared scanning unit and various panoramic and vertical cameras. The aircraft could also carry external reconnaissance pods, such as the Raphael TH side-looking radar or the ELINT ASTAC pod.
