Η Βέρμαχτ έδινε ιδιαίτερη προσοχή στη διαχείριση των μονάδων και τη συνεργασία τους. Για τα διάφορα επίπεδα των Σωμάτων Στρατού κατασκευάστηκαν ειδικά οχήματα επικοινωνιών βασισμένα στο ημιερπυστριοφόρο Τεθωρακισμένο Όχημα Μεταφοράς Προσωπικού Sd.Kfz.251, το οποίο είχε καλές δυνατότητες εκτός δρόμου, θωράκιση κατά των σφαιρών και ένα ή δύο πολυβόλα για αυτοάμυνα. Ανάλογα με τον σκοπό, αυτό το όχημα ήταν εξοπλισμένο με επιπλέον ραδιοεξοπλισμό FuG 4, FuG 5, FuG 7,
FuG 8, FuG 11 και FuG 12 σε διαφορετικούς συνδυασμούς. Χρησιμοποιούνταν κεραίες ιστού, ράβδου και βρόχου.
