Το ελικόπτερο Mi-26 είναι το βαρύτερο και μεγαλύτερο ελικόπτερο σε υπηρεσία σήμερα. Ο σχεδιασμός ξεκίνησε τη δεκαετία του εβδομήντα και εισήχθη από τον Σοβιετικό Στρατό το 1981. Το Mi-26 είναι το τέλειο όχημα μεταφοράς για γρήγορη ανάπτυξη στρατευμάτων και χρησιμοποιήθηκε εκτενώς από τη Ρωσική Αεροπορία κατά τον πρώτο και τον δεύτερο πόλεμο της Τσετσενίας. Συνολικός αριθμός παραγωγής 276 τεμ. Τα Mi-26 βρίσκονται σε υπηρεσία με ορισμένα κράτη της ΚΑΚ, Μαλαισία, Ινδία, Περού, Μεξικό και άλλα για στρατιωτική χρήση και Κίνα, Νότια Κορέα, Ελλάδα, Ινδία και άλλα για πολιτικούς σκοπούς.
