Το σοβιετικό κύριο άρμα μάχης T-62 ήταν το πρώτο μεσαίο σειριακό άρμα στον κόσμο εξοπλισμένο με όπλο λείας οπής και βαριά θωράκιση. Αναπτύχθηκε στη βάση του μοντέλου T-55 με ένα νέο πυροβόλο U-5TS 115 mm. Η περίοδος παραγωγής διήρκεσε από το 1962 έως το 1975 με πάνω από 20.000 κατασκευασμένα οχήματα. Αυτό το τανκ προμηθεύτηκε πολλούς συμμάχους της Σοβιετικής Ένωσης και έγινε διάσημο λόγω της συμμετοχής του σε πολλές τοπικές συγκρούσεις μεταξύ 1968 και 2017. Στη ΛΔΚ της Κορέας η παραγωγή ενός εγκεκριμένου αντιγράφου του T-62 συνεχίστηκε μέχρι το 1989, παραμένοντας ακόμη σε υπηρεσία. Επίσης σε άλλες χώρες όπως η Αλγερία, η Αίγυπτος, η Κούβα και η Συρία το T-62 εξακολουθεί να λειτουργεί σήμερα.
