Το κύριο ασθενοφόρο του Αμερικανικού Στρατού στον Β' Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο ήταν το WC-54, βασισμένο στη σειρά WC-, με ωφέλιμο φορτίο 3/4 τόνων. Το πλαίσιο είχε εκτεταμένο μεταξόνιο και κλειστό αμάξωμα με δυνατότητα μεταφοράς 4-7 τραυματιών συν έναν ιατρό και έναν οδηγό. Την περίοδο 1942-1944 κατασκευάστηκαν 26.002 οχήματα αυτού του τύπου. Το WC-54 χρησιμοποιήθηκε στον Αμερικανικό Στρατό μέχρι το 1953 - τον πόλεμο της Κορέας. Σε πολλούς στρατούς συμμαχικών χωρών, το WC-54 παρέμεινε σε υπηρεσία μέχρι τη δεκαετία του 1960.
