Το πολυβόλο Vickers .50, γνωστό και ως «Vickers .50» ήταν βασικά παρόμοιο με το πολυβόλο Vickers των 0,303 ιντσών (7,70 mm), αλλά κλιμακώθηκε για να χρησιμοποιήσει ένα μεγαλύτερου διαμετρήματος 0,5 ιντσών (12,7 mm) γύρο.
Είδε κάποια χρήση σε άρματα μάχης και άλλα οχήματα μάχης, αλλά χρησιμοποιήθηκε πολύ πιο συχνά ως κλειστό αντιαεροπορικό όπλο στο Βασιλικό Ναυτικό και σε συμμαχικά πλοία, συνήθως σε τοποθέτηση με τέσσερα πυροβόλα.
Οι Vickers εκτόξευσαν βρετανικά πυρομαχικά 50 διαμετρήματος 12,7×81mm, όχι τα πιο γνωστά US 12,7×99mm (,50 BMG).
Ο Mark I ήταν το μοντέλο ανάπτυξης.
